The Jimi Hendrix Experience's jazz-influenced drummer whose explosive, improvisational style perfectly matched Hendrix's revolutionary guitar.

John Graham "Mitch" Mitchell was the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, chosen over Aynsley Dunbar via a coin toss. His jazz-influenced, Elvin Jones-inspired style meshed perfectly with Hendrix's revolutionary approach, creating some of rock's most innovative recordings. Rolling Stone ranked him the 8th greatest drummer of all time in 2016. Mitchell appeared on all three Experience studio albums and remained the last surviving original member until his death in 2008.
